What to do if there is an incorrect revision?

[edit]

What should we do if there is an incorrect revision in order to prevent three consecutive revertions? Abhiramakella (talk) 20:18, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Leave the incorrect revision in place. Bryan Henderson (giraffedata) (talk) 02:06, 19 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Start a discussion on the talk page and tag the "incorrect" information. See wp:QUO for some tag options. - Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 04:24, 19 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Change to information page?

[edit]

Jc37 changed Wikipedia:Reverting from an essay to an information page with edit summary = This is an info page. I reverted with edit summary = The word "essay" is correct too. Jc37 went to my my talk page to insist I must explain more. Well, I wish nobody cared since information pages are in the same class as essays (not thoroughly vetted, not the same status as a PAG, etc.). But an attempt to distinguish is in WP:INFOPAGES: "Where essay pages offer advice or opinions through viewpoints, information pages should supplement or clarify technical or factual information about Wikipedia impartially." My claim is that this, WP:RV, is mostly offering advice or opinions, rather than technical or factual information. I do not see that it reflects perfectly what's in PAGs, I have seen how when an editor changes an essay to an information page that gives it cachet, I oppose doing so unnecessarily. Of course I realize that people who come to this item's talk page will feel affection for it especially if they have contributed, so perhaps the change will get consensus, and if so okay. But let's see first: who supports and who opposes? Peter Gulutzan (talk) 14:12, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Let's hear from Jc37 before we start a wp:!Vote. - Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 14:52, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
